Artist Statement: Andy Warhol has been a major influence on my work since I first learned about him, but also from before I learned about him. Some artists influence the conversation of art history so powerfully that they change the entire climate of the conversation from then onward. Publicly he was an enigma, privately he was a sweet human that had challenges and problems like any of us. For me, Warhol has been an inspiration, a teacher, a guide, and more, and I’ve also loved learning of his human side. I feel a lot of compassion for this person who was so misunderstood but has left such a large mark as well.
